Municipal Planning Commission

The Lakeland Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) consists of seven members, including the Mayor (or designee), five Mayoral appointees, and one member of the Board of Commissioners. Meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM at City Hall, though dates are subject to change. Design Review Commission

The MPC also serves as Lakeland's Design Review Commission (DRC). Acting as the DRC, the MPC reviews site design elements that impact the community's appearance. The MPC/DRC has the authority to grant special exceptions to City regulations regarding these site elements when warranted. Design-related items reviewed by the MPC/DRC include:

  • Building design and materials
  • Fences
  • Signage
  • Landscaping
  • Lighting
